Hi.
Some of this may seem like criticism, but it isn't.Just a few suggestions from an old PBeM/PBM dog! ;D
Action Points:Very frustrating not being able to do all you want to do,but 10AP max with 4 replenished each day is spot on.
Traits/Skills:Okay but I think that characters may have too many negative traits. It's a bit off putting. Also IMHO character traits would to some extent influence the skills a character would be interested in learning. For example I have a character who knows tactics but is cowardly.
Maybe allocate traits before a player chooses skills.Currently a player generates characters and traits are added randomly(I assume)afterwards.
Maybe a player can choose traits using a points system.Positive traits cost while negative ones credit points.Should be a limit on how many traits a character has though.
Number of Characters Per House:Way to many. And when players drop out and their house ceases to exist the defunct house characters join other families. All their connections to other houses come with them.It starts to get over complicated and will put players off.Plus if it happens to much every house will end up connected one way or another through a web of alliances.
Limit the number of family members to a handful and allow retainers to be hired. Also am I right in thinking that if you petition a member of another house successfully they join your house?if that's the case it only compounds the problem of too many members in one household.
Maybe change the petition system so that the petitioned character betrays/spys on their house but doesn't join your house.
Assassinations: Spice it up a bit.Allow different assassination methods and counter measures against them.
Armies:I know that Knight Characters can lead individual units within an army, but I haven't heard if that option has been widely used.If not do away with units and just lump all troops/vehicles into one army led by a legate.Knights if used can maybe give combat bonuses to an army they join.
Haven't really looked into the spaceship side of the game much to comment,so I won't.
All in all this is a good game and I enjoy playing it,just tweak it a bit here and there, but that's what an Alpha test is all about isn't it?
