Good Evening Sports fans!
We are gathered at the Toledo Estate of Nuevo Girona on the eve of the latest tournament. At stake is a personal tournament prize of £500,000, but in addition House Toledo have pledged to award an entrance award of £10,000 to the House of each entrant as well as a further £200,000 in House prize money.
At the time of writing this has attracted 8 foreign entrants in addition to the 2 entrants from House Toledo itself. A warm welcome to Jack Leen in particular is made after his trip out from Capricia.
10 entrants implies that there will be a qualifying round to get the numbers down to 8 entrants, and then 3 rounds proper. It is currently unknown which entrants will face off.
We take a look at the entrants and try to judge how they will fair.
Legate Juan Toledo – known to be wrathful (+2 intimidation) and a Melee Apprentice (+2 to Melee rounds), Juan could possibly be viewed as the favourite for the tournament as he will have +4 in the first and third round. Should he make it to the second round though, he would hope to avoid being drawn against either Emelote Dinjinn or Fouquet Rath who will both hold the advantage in lances.
Emissary Emelote Dinjinn – known to be Cruel (+2 intimidation) and an Etiquette Neophyte (+1 Lances), she is known for her horsemanship. The only female entrant is considered to be a strong contender for the tournament.
Steward Geraldo Toledo – like Juan Toledo, Geraldo is wrathful so has a degree of natural talent. He has no formal training however, so will hope to avoid the other entrants on their specialist rounds.
Emissary Jack Leen – whilst Jack perhaps displays a brutal honesty with the tongue, he has no formal training and is perhaps not quite the natural athlete that some of the other entrants. Jack looks to be the only off world entrant, having travelled from far away Capricia and House Toledo were most pleased that the effort was made to join them.
Emissary Paul Ryngold – many may recall that Paul was the surprise runner up at the Akatosh tournament. With his sharp tongue Paul will likely win many supporters, but his main skill remains with the pistols and he perhaps lacks the natural talent of other entrants. Husband of Elisa-Carolina Toledo, Paul will likely have a vocal support amongst the local crowd.
Emissary Raynoldus Ryngold – there are unlikely to be less honourable entrants than the Just Raynoldus, who will hope that his skill on horseback and sheet good breeding will win him through.
Emissary Thorworld Dinjinn – Thorwold is also a veteran of the Akatosh tournament, and could potentially be facing the opponent (Paul Ryngold) whom he narrowly lost to. Like Paul, Thorwold may hope to use his tongue to cause opponents to make rash decisions rather than his natural skill.
Emissary Fouquet Rath – the 18 year old Fouquet brings with him a cruel temperament, but his reputation as a good horseman
Emissary Koi Rath – Koi is rumoured to have a cruel temperament and is versed in martial skills – though not in Melee and Etiquette.
Emissary Lanzo Rath – a melee neophyte, there will be none prouder than to don the colours of House Rath than Lanzo as he looks to emblazen his name in glory.
Juan Toledo has been the most heavily supported by local bookmakers, though a degree of that may be because he is Legate to an army sitting on the Estate…
That said, it has been widely talked about that with the first and third rounds of the tournament being swords, he holds a slight advantage over the other entrants.
Equal second favourites are Emelotte Dinjinn and Fouquet Rath, like Juan they have a good degree of natural talent though they would both hope that if they are drawn against him, that they do so in Round 2 which will be decided by lances.
Geraldo Toledo and Koi Rath are considered good equal fourth favourites, both having great natural talent, though perhaps lacking formal training with sword and lance.
Lanzo Rath finds himself as sixth favourite, just edging Raynoldus Ryngold due to the formers Neophyte skill in Melee compared to the latters skill with the lance.
Outside bets then fall on Paul Ryngold, Jack Leen and Thorwold Dinjinn
House Toledo offers a warm welcome to all the entrants. We salute you all for upholding the traditions of Empire! May you fight clean and fair!

Emelotte Dinjinn is the ond to watch now - bloodthirsty and cruel gives her +4 intimidation! With the science academy I thinkshe should also now be able to train ettiquette no matter her role.
I think there may be a lesson to be learned for me though....thats the second character ive had snuff it due to a tournament!
...and yes hearty congrats to sir Lanzo!

Estate Nuevo Girona Tourney
In a surprise move, a decision was made that all 10 entrants would fight off in the first round, when some had expected an initial face off between 4 of the entrants to bring the numbers down to 8. The result of this was that one entrant would receive a bye directly to the final round and would face off against an opponent who had had to face three rounds.
House Toledo were quick to stress that this was a decision taken by the Council of Martial Arms as the fans settled down for the first round of swords.
Those who arrived at their seats early were rewarded with a match-up between the home favourite, Juan Toledo against Emelote Dinjinn, considered joint second favourite. With his training in Melee, Juan was hotly tipped to win this, but cheers quickly turned to shocked dismay as Emelote calmly parried a stroke from Juan and ran him through as he overstepped. Little could be done to stem Juan’s lifeblood and it was with a heavy heart that the Toledo Household removed his listless body from the tournament grounds.
Next up to fight was Geraldo Toledo who had been drawn against outside hope Jack Leen. Geraldo helped restore the voices of the local crowd as he was able to use his better athleticism to dispatch Jack.
The third fight of the day saw two Ryngold entrants face up to each other, as Paul Ryngold faced up to Raynoldus. Raynoldus was known to be the better horseman, but in swords the two were considered to be of a similar level. Paul was able to draw on his experience in the Akatosh tournament to score a narrow victory.
The fourth fight of the day saw joint second favourite, Fouquet Rath face Thorwold Dinjinn. Despite a bright start from Thorwold, Fouquet’s natural talent was much in evidence as he dispatched his opponent and forces a submission.
The final fight of the round saw two Rath entrants square up to each other as Koi faced Lanzo. Koi was considered to be the more natural athlete, but Lanzo was better versed in the art of the sword. Koi began to use his athleticism with a barrage of sword strokes that had Lanzo backpedalling, but just as it seemed that Lanzo must surely submit he made a sweet stroke that Koi simply could not parry. The stroke though was perhaps too well made, as Koi reeled backwards to reveal his throat to be cut open – the First round had its second fatality.
Whilst the mood had grown sombre again, action the moved to the jousting field for the second round using lances.
Out first was Geraldo Toledo, though the local crowd became restless as they saw him face up to Emelote Dinjinn who had not long cut down Juan Toledo. Further – added to her natural athleticism and intimidating presence, Emelote had evidently had training in horsemanship. And so it was that on the second pass she was able to dismount Geraldo to secure her passage to the next round.
The second fight of the round saw Paul Ryngold face Fouqet Rath. Like Emelote though, this was Fouquet’s preferred discipline and so it was that he was able to dismount Paul with some neat lancework.
With the second round complete, the tournament now returned to what locals had dubbed the ‘Bear pit’ where Fouquet Rath would compete against Emelote Dinjinn with swords in the third round.
These two were now considered joint favourites, and so it turned out to be in the longest duel of the day so far as first Emelote and then Fouquet appeared to have the upper hand. With the death of Juan Toledo still fresh in the mind of the local population though, the crowds were evidently more vocal in their support of Fouquet and it as perhaps this that eventually saw Fouquet win through to the final match up.
….and so it was that Fouquet Rath found himself facing his compatriot, Lanzo Rath in the final round of the day. As victor over Emelote, and perhaps because Lanzo had only had to compete in one previous round, the crowd were more vocal in their support of Fouquet. The form also suggested that with the final to be decided back on the jousting field that it was a formality that Fouquet would soon be made Champion.
As Lanzo joined the field on his black stallion however, his determination was much in evidence. Still on the second pass, a firm hit from Fouquet nearly unhorsed Lanzo. Some said afterwards that the extra two rounds of combat had sapped Fouquet of his energy, others claimed that the bloodthirst was much evident in the eyes of Lanzo and some claimed that Lanzo made a comment with regards to the death of Koi Rath that unsettled his opponent. What we do know though is that on the third pass, Fouquet made an uncharacteristically awkward lunge with his lance that left him a little too exposed to Lanzo’s own thrust. Fouquet was dismounted, and Lanzo was proclaimed Sir Lanzo of Catyluca – winner of the Nuevo Girona Tournament.
So it is then that House Toledo announce the prize awards;
To House Rath, for first and second place, and with three entrants: £180,000
To House Dinjinn, for third place, and with two entrants £45,000
To House Ryngold, for fourth place, and with two entrants £45,000
To House Leen, for one entrant, £10,000
House Toledo would like to thank all the Nobles Houses that took part, and offer our sympathies to House Rath for the demise of Koi Rath. May his spirit live on on the tongues of all who saw him fight so valiantly!
