Am I right in thinking that the only way to only recruit troops or freemen is to demolish the one building?
On my estate for example I want to continue recruiting troops, but put a temporary hold on recruiting freemen. Appreciate I could try to sell the freemen, but I suspect that there will not be any buyers...
Would it be possible for a Tribune to be granted Halt/restart Recruitment orders with the option to select the type or All?

No current way of disabling one recruitment building whilst keeping recruitment in general going.
However, if you put workers on the market, they are gone from your estate so you do not pay them wages.
The same of course applies to troops.

Doesn't being able to add troops and workers to the market and then be able to cancel the sale create an exploit? I think it means that you could add them to premarket at a price no one would pay which means you clear them off the wage bill until you need them when you issue a cancel sale order. I could drastically reduce my troop wage bill this way...

Hate to be "that" guy, however. I am doing this in a way. I place my freemen up for sale(at the lowest wage currently for my world for freemen) if I need them I'll cancel the order for so many. I also do this for my troops(again at the lowest wage) I have no need for troops.. I fear I will eat my words soon though if I don't keep some around
